First of all, a very warm welcome to our Blog!
Love us, hate us – either way you’re thinking of us! Hopefully we can encourage other individuals or couples to follow their dream. That is our motto and it is very simple. We believe failure is only an option so it is definitely worth giving it a shot!
Who are we?
Our little family consists of 3 members. Indra Van Regemorter (Belgian), photographer and the writer of this blog. Henk van den Bor (Dutch), WordPress webdesigner and the creator of this blog. And third but not less present is our dog and ‘baguette’ monster named Diesel, in French that sounds a bit like ‘Diézèl’… suddenly it sounds like we have a sophisticated pet 🙂 NOT!
Unfortunately our sweet Diesel passed away 15th December 2017. He left an empty hole in our hearts that we wanted to fill up as soon as possible so 21st January 2018 dear Kasper came into our lives and he truly brings a heartwarming smile to our faces every day. Such a joy this little fella! ♥
Living the dream?
In many people’s eyes the answer is an obvious ‘yes’ and in the meantime we found out that is simply the case. It truly feels like living for the moments you cannot put into words. And that is exactly how it is. Photographs can add some beauty to the articles I write but they can never replace the feeling of really spending a bit more time here, especially in spring- and summertime. But then again, any season is beautiful in an awesome and pure environment as the Provence. Life is too short so we decided to take a little lifebreak before we run out of time!
How do we ‘survive’?
Simple. We have only one very important requirement : decent internet or wifi. We both work online and thus we cannot live / survive without a good connection. Also very important before you take the step of working as independents abroad is that you already built up a solid business network long before leaving your home country. Do keep in mind that it might take some time before you catch your first serious assignment in your new country and the money needs to continue coming in. So running projects and new demands continue as usual. We simply believe what we do flows from who we are.
This was funny enough not a conscious choice but it more or less came on our lifepath. We used to come down to this area for our annual holiday in September, a few years in a row. Excellent weather for doing lots of hikes and long walks which permitted me to have the camera on hand wherever we went. This same camera led me to a photoshoot of a degustation at the most beautiful wine estate of Château Unang in Malemort-du-Comtat and after a few years of re-visiting and taking lots of gorgeous local photographs, I was invited by the owners of Château Unang for a photo exhibition at their caveau. This was the turning point and actually made us decide to rent a house in this area for the spring- and summertime and activate an internet subscription.
Why a blog?
Hmmmm…so many blogs already but hey, when you have all the tools and knowledge at your disposal to make a beautiful blog, the decision is easily made. Yes, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and so much more Social Media works too but you do not have control about your content or your pictures. Facebook & Co. may just decide one day it does no longer want to exist and there goes all your interesting content and once in a lifetime pictures. And last but not least, you control your own actions. That is to us the most important reason we started this blog. Do not worry, I try to keep my stories short and very easy-going, so you can relax a bit while reading 🙂
Why in English?
English may not be the most spoken language in the world, but it is the official language in a large number of countries. English is the dominant business language and it has become almost a necessity for people to write in English if they are to reach a global network. Its importance in the global marketplace therefore cannot be understated, writing in English really makes you reach a broader audience.
And last but not least, since we have quite an international group of followers and friends, we choose to write this blog in English. It is the foreigners that we would like to surprise and maybe even ‘entertain’. The French already know how awesome this part of France is 🙂
